Wewoka hires Bryan Couch as its new head football coach

The Wewoka Board of Education approved the hiring of their next head football coach. Bryan Couch will lead the tiger football program after myriad stops at other programs.

Couch started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Guthrie, where he helped lead the Bluejays to the state semifinals two out of his three years. He then spent three years at Western Heights in Oklahoma City before heading to Blackwell to take on the Defensive Coordinator position. After Blackwell, Couch would take on his first head coaching position at Wellston. Couch would then have stops at Bethel, Antlers, Lawton and Midwest City.

"Wewoka has a great tradition of winning football with community support," Couch said. "Our goal at Wewoka will be to compete for championships and help mold young people into productive adults."

“We hired Bryan Couch because he stood out amongst our applicants. His experience on the defensive side of the ball will be an asset to our district. Coach Couch takes over a revamped coaching staff with solid experience,” Athletic Director Cody Barlow said. “We believe Bryan can come in and build off of Eric Bradley’s success and continue to build on the legacy of Wewoka Athletics.”
